Fake Fortnite Reward Sites Are Stealing Player Accounts

Scammers have created bogus websites promising free V-Bucks (Fortnite's in-game currency) and account upgrades. When players enter their login information to claim these fake rewards, the scammers capture their credentials and take over their accounts.

This is a straightforward credential theft scam. The fake sites look similar enough to real Fortnite pages that casual players don't notice the difference in the web address. Once a scammer has your login, they can drain your account, steal your cosmetics, and use your payment methods.

What's happening

Fortnite players are being targeted through social media posts, Discord servers, and gaming forums with links to sites offering free currency or "locker value" (a measure of your cosmetic collection). These sites ask you to log in with your Epic Games account to "verify" or "claim" your reward. Instead of giving you anything, they log your username and password and lock you out of your own account.

The sites are often shared by people who claim to be other players—sometimes they're compromised accounts, sometimes they're the scammers themselves using gaming communities to spread the link.

What to do

If you play Fortnite, remember this: Epic Games never asks you to log in on a third-party site to claim rewards. If a link promises free V-Bucks or cosmetics, it's a scam. Period.

If you've already entered your login on one of these sites, change your Epic Games password immediately from a device you trust. Go directly to epicgames.com and use the password reset page. After you change your password, check your account security settings. Look at "Connected Apps" and "Authorized Devices" and remove anything unfamiliar.

If money is missing or items have been sold off your account, contact Epic Games support right away. They can sometimes restore items if you act quickly.

For the future: only claim in-game rewards from within Fortnite itself or from links inside the official Epic Games launcher. If someone shares a "free rewards" link in a Discord or on social media, report it and move on. The only person getting paid is the scammer.

Your account is valuable—not just for the cosmetics, but because it's tied to your payment information. Treat your Fortnite login the same way you treat your bank password.
